Claim: For my Senior Project, I will make presentations at African Immigrants Social and Cultural Services (AISCS) events that will benefit orphans in Shirati, Tanzania. Additionally, I will find different ways to receive donations from the public in order to raise money for an orphan, Haubui Jaji, that I met in the summer of 2009. At the end of my Senior Project, I will hold a gathering in the AA Building that will inform people at our school about AISCS and what we aim to achieve. This gathering will include the President and Founder of the organization, Christine Chacha, Treasurer, Prof. Laura Mason, and other members of the organization who are willing to inform the school about their experiences in Tanzania.
Reason: The reason as to why I chose this topic and project is to inform the general public and my peers of this non-profit organization, and why they should take part in it. Additionally, I became very close to Hasubui and I would love to make a difference in his life, so he can have a great future, especially in education. Education is very expensive in Tanzania; thus, if I raise money for Hasubui, he can go to school and better his life.
Evidence: I will present my earnings and the members of the organization in the AA building at the end of the year. I will also have pictures and log hours to present the time and work I out into raising money for Hasubui.
Value: This project will help me to become more involved in my community and the organization in which I take part in. Furthermore, once I become a pediatrician (in the future), I would love to be able to help orphans, like Hasubui, in Africa through health care as well as funding.
